Recently we have had a some MacBooks come into the shop all having the same issue with hard drive failure. After taking their macs to the apple store, where they are told the drive has failed and there is nothing they can do. The customers then approached Infogrip I.T. for their data recovery needs. If you are donating an old computer to a charity or just want to make sure that sensitive information is deleted forever, there are a few things you can do. For PCs, try File Shredder or Kill Disk. Both free programs can permanently remove files. On a Mac, just put the files in the Trash and select “Secure Empty Trash” from the Finder menu.
